Soundman Chronicles’ CEO and underground London lynchpin, Parris expands the borders of Berceuse Heroique’s Ancient Monarchy sublabel with a trio of full-sunk, body-liquifying killlllers.
One of those dark interpreters on the liminal edge of the scene, Parris has previously teamed up with Wen for Tempa, and did a solo for Idle Hands earlier in 2016, but we daresay this is his strongest gear so far.
The subs on all three tracks are pretty astonishing, operating right at a sweetspot that should should sound amazing on a responsive sound system, and, in turn, trigger any crowd - even deaf ones, no jk - into meditating zombies in the best sense.
This is a pure physical experience in a way that’s sorely been forgotten by many other producers apart from the dubstep diehards. However, where others tend to put too much on top, Parris keeps it trim, spacious and hyper fresh with a serious bias to the mix-down, resulting the immersive electro-dub minimalism of Bloom, a bonier update on the Skull Disco sound in Skeletal, and some inimitably in-the-pocket groovers business with South East of the Mountain.
This is very, very good stuff.
