Boomkat Product Review:
Sound artist and composer Angelo Petronella arrives at Die Schachtel with a very pensive brand of electronic composition that's grounded in the academic realms of musique concrète and acousmatic music. Indebted to the legacy of GRM and composers like Bernard Parmegiani, Francois Bayle and their like, Petronella envelopes field-recorded sounds with radical electronic processing that all of a sudden sucks the listener away from whatever sense of place and time the source material might once have held. One of the most radical instances of this comes with 'Tratto 2', seemingly a document of children playing that's been cybernetically altered - introduced by a laser-beam drone before eventually the recordings are heavily edited, granulated and spectrally filtered into an oddly percussive and convulsive formation. Recommended.
