Boomkat Product Review:
Fat Cat's rarified 130701 imprint collects highlights of Sylvain Chauveau's numerous and long out-of-print film scores and work for dance performance on 'Rare & unreleased pieces 1998-2010'. Chauveau's oeuvre is inextricably linked with this label - they presented one of his earliest and most cherished works 'Un Autre Décembre' - and having surveyed his output ever since, are the perfect candidates to bring this collection into the world. Spanning 18 tracks in 40 minutes, it takes in seven pieces for made for Thomas De Thier's feature film, 'Des Plumes Dans La Tête', alongside two short guitar bits for Sarah Bouyain's 'Notre Etrangère' (2009). A pair of tracks appeared in Danish director HR Boe's 'Beast' (2010), and four from his 'Alting Bliver Godt Igen' (2009), with a 40-piece orchestra, including two of Sylvain's favourite's, featuring "surely the best melodies i've ever composed," yet were cut from the film's final edit, and remain unheard, 'til now. Highly recommended if you like Rachels, Labradford, Mogawi, Erik Satie.
