Boomkat Product Review:
From 1996 here is the second album from Hood. Moving slightly on from their first album 'Cabled Linear Traction' at this the band were Chris Adams, Richard Adams, Andrew Johnson and John Clyde Evans with backing vocals from Nicola Hodgkinson. From noisy melodic indie rock to guitar based drone ambience and quiet melancholic miniatures. The birth of the blissed out sounds of Empress can be heard in the singing and phrasing of 'Hood Northern'. Tracks like 'Delusions Of Worthlessness' are minor masterpieces of experimentation (tape delays et al), naked lyrical expression and unbound guitar exploration. Twenty six tracks with an hour + running time. US import copies. Add another block to your Hood collection. Indispensable music.
