Boomkat Product Review:
Creepin' out of the Wedidit camp, Berlin's Luis Dourado a.k.a. Purple comes off like a near relation of HTDW and Tricky with his 2nd LP and debut for the LA collective.
The production is achingly sharp but smooth and reserved, forming a slick bed for vocals that tend towards falsetto flights but are prone to bouts of depressed, down-pitched wallow and paranoid hush, subtly matched for tone and late night hues in the synthetic cloaking devices, but if we're really gonna praise any one thing, his beats are tight AF, especially in the trap suspension of 'Never Come Back', and the early Junior Boys-style, 2-step synth-pop mixture of the title track.
