Boomkat Product Review:
There’s simply no way you can get even half a bar into this EP without being hit right in the chops by the overwhelming Radiohead influence. ‘The Morning’ is an utterly shameless stab at ‘Paranoid Android’, from its apocalyptic doomscape vocals (“The flood is coming now”) via its division into discreet sub-sections, right down to its actual melodies. Alarming. That said, it would be wholly unfair to say that TLAHWTT are mere OK Computer copyists – they clearly also like The Bends. Check out the falsetto on ‘Breathe’. The band would probably say it was a Jeff Buckley influence on show, and it sort of is, albeit filtered through ‘(Nice Dream)’… for further evidence of this bare-faced plundering, see the harrowing approximation of Thom Yorke’s vocal tics on ‘Granite Hands’. Chilling. But ok, so maybe this isn’t entirely fair on the band. ‘Dark Tree’ sees them stepping out of that comfort zone and into a more electronic territory that sounds… like… Kid A. Oh blimey.
