Boomkat Product Review:
Detroit's finest empties his harddrive of his lo-swung hiphop and downbeat experiments with the second installment in the mighty Sidetrakx series. While the first installment leant heavily towards RZA styled funk edits and Dilla-esque Detroit hiphop, this time round the magic fingers turn to slick electro soul on 'Hysteresis', moody blue beats with thick double bass and keys on 'Efilive' and abstract electrodub on 'Meziere'. Co-produced with Big Strick, 'Postignition' is the highlight here, a late night smokers delight with subtle Omar S inflections on the raw ground bass sequence. 'Leaveluck To Heaven' is a sleazin' Detroit ditty with a chiptune melody to make any of the cheeky young European practitioners envious, while the synth melody on 'I Know Chun Li' sounds scarily like ICBYD era Aphex Twin. Very very good indeed - limited copies.
