Boomkat Product Review:
When a record is said to have got Mike Patton green with envy, it's obvious that you're going to have to give it a look - and this is just the situation prompted by Zach Hill and Mick Barr's 'Shred Earthship' collaboration. Recorded over a sweaty weekend in Sacramento, 'Shred Earthship' sees the Octis / Orthrelm / Hella / Team Sleep alumni cranking everything up to 11 for a blast of carpel-inducing rock so fast it must be breaking the law. Very much rooted in the punk tradition, Hill and Barr adhere to no overarching dogma other than cramming as much head-swinging fret work into each and every track on the album as possible. If the dueling banjos of 'Deliverance' had been exchanged for electric guitars than amped to the heavens, you'd be somewhere near the grin-inducing cacophony perpetrated by this experimental duo. Shredded wheat!
