Boomkat Product Review:
Breathtaking remix of Mirko Loko from Ricardo Villalobos backed with Carl Craig's big-room tribal Detroit version. With his release schedule now limited to maybe 1 track every six months, it's become a bit of an event when a new Villalobos records turn up. His "Hilery's Chant" remix of 'Tahktok' follows in the style established by the 'Enfants' and 'Vasco' 12"s, centred around lush synthline drifts, trickling sub-bass movements and an increasingly macroscopic attention to detail. The elegiac pads approach Popol Vuh or Arvo Part territory, creating a stately sense of occasion guaranteed to leave a lasting impression on most dancefloors/bedrooms/headspaces. Out on the flipside, Carl Craig offers his "Soundscape" remix of 'Love Harmonic', an extensive rolling composition fixed on tribal percussion and opulent synthline dramatics. Recommended!
