Boomkat Product Review:
Editions Mego introduce their eagerly anticipated Sensate Focus sub-label with an advanced lesson in abstract House architecture. Keeping their cards close to their chest, we're only allowed to know that it "might" be SND's Mark Fell, but let's not play silly buggers: we've got ears; it's got to be him. Mego's CEO Peter Rehberg also offered to The Wire: "[It's] music that could be played in nightclubs containing nice keyboard sounds and slightly unusual beats", and that Mego "liked the keyboard sounds from early House music, but had got bored of the rhythms. We did not want to throw the baby away with the bathwater, so decided to keep some things. So we kept the water and threw the baby away." The "water" manifests as plush, convective chords and trickling melodies, fused with restlessly swinging, tactile rhythms which well warrant the allusion of focussed, tantric sexual techniques in the label name. Ultimately, it's got the optimised soul flow of SND's classic 'Tender Love' crossed with the retro-vintage NY and Chicago resurrections of DJ Sprinkles, and if you know what that means...It's a no brainer.
