Boomkat Product Review:
Staunch UKG and UKF producer Scottie D deepens the link between UK and South African house styles in a trio of pearls for Supa D’s label
If the clubs were open right now, Scottie D and the Housupa roster would be booked out every weekend, but lockdown has put paid to that. Thank fuck we’ve still got their tunes for bop praccy, then. The ‘Sea Moss’ EP sees Scottie D prowl the imaginary (sea)floor in a stripped down, Black Atlantic Afro-house style, hustling Gqom-Like drones and trills on a clonking square bass pattern in the title tune, before he packs the drums tight in-the-pocket with lurking organ motifs on ‘RIA (Original Bass Mix)’ for the best dancers, and ‘No More Nights Out’ cold kills it with wide, driving subs and icy electroid prongs in a pressurised, nearly seething, UK Afro-house murder.
