Boomkat Product Review:
Back in stock! 'Screw The Roses' is just immense, kicking off with a typical dark starter 'The Prowler' which makes its intentions known straight off the bat. Dark and solid kicks set the groove, the crisp and expertly filtered percussion creeps up, and a dark foreboding fills the air. Layered cinematic chords lift the atmosphere and the drums build for an incredibly monstrous acid line that follows. There is a searing ambient number, 'Another Body' which has a very cold and bleak feel, but head for the storming tour de force of 'Exhibit (Send The Dogs)' which lives up to it's harrowing title with evil intent deep in the groove, a relentless clanging synth and percussion sit perfectly with the solid 4/4, the subtle editing and modulation make the noises fit the solid techno drums, and a classic 12" is sealed. And that's not counting the most experimental and darkest track, 'Shaper Of The Unknown' which is deep and cavernous, with Ligeti style vocal strings almost screaming across the track, a serious and dark excursion to the outer reaches, Immense.
