Boomkat Product Review:
German soundtrack composer Gert Wilden, will forever be remembered as a man who scored dubious '70s erotica, most notoriously the Schulmadschen Report (as in Schoolgirl Report) series that was successful in Germany throughout the decade. Masquerading as something vaguely connected to sex education, the film salaciously concerns itself with the romantic exploits ('exploits' being the key word, presumably) of various young ladies. As dubious as all that sounds, Gert makes it all sound like a right laugh, serving up some great funked-up beat music as a companion score to all these shenanigans. It'd be fair to compare Gert's work to that of his contemporary and fellow countryman Peter Thomas, although the material on this compilation is probably a little more fast and loose than anything Thomas did, with a few dodgy bits of lead guitar on the more blistering, uptempo numbers. Loungier fare comes off rather better, especially 'Sexy Girls', which features a great whispery, hummed vocal and a bit of sleazy brass thrown in for good measure. Decent retro kitsch all round really, though you may feel like you need a shower after listening to it.
