Boomkat Product Review:
This LP draws on early work by Brazilian music legends, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Luiz Floriano Bonfa. Pre-dating the Black Orpheus soundtrack LP (also reissued this week) the material here finds the musicians struggling to make ends meet in the mid-fifties whilst pioneering the bossa nova revolution. The recordings here are wonderfully old and warm sounding, pressed up onto 180 gram vinyl, sounding as good as you could reasonably hope it to (some of this goes as far back as 1948), capturing some wonderful performances from the musicians, notably Bonfa, and his languid guitar lines.
