Boomkat Product Review:
Originally released five years ago, this six-track compilation gives a broad cross-section of Manchester's Twisted Nerve imprint at a time when it was very much a prolific, bustling entity. D.O.T. open the record with some simple, focussed krautrock before Luma Lane create strange, Mazzy Star-like bedroom folk songs, seemingly taking the crackle of a Geiger counter as one of its key instruments. Elsewhere, Toolshed's interdisciplinary jazz sprawl gets a little airtime, while Sirconical heads in a more downbeat electronic direction with 'Gone'. The two closing tracks are particularly strong: Aidan Smith's playful 'I Met Myself In The Bar' is a splendid, Syd Barrett-like piece while Misty Dixon's 'Outro' is a fine piece of electronically augmented pop music.
