Boomkat Product Review:
Pariah justifies the hype following his debut release with six tracks of Detroit-infected post-garage, hiphop and ambient. Firstly 'The Slump' makes a connection with his labelmate Juan Atkins, arranging 313 electro beats with a distinct garage swing and vastly atmospheric synth pads. 'Prism' continues the vibe with juiced electrobass riffs and Burial-style garage vox and then there's the highlight of 'Crossed Out', delivered in deadly Joy Orbison style. Meanwhile 'C-Beams' drops off into hiphop mode with a Dilla-style swagger and the title track expands his remit to include gorgeous deep ambient somewhere between Global Communications and Biosphere. Lush.
