Boomkat Product Review:
After showing his tender side for AD 93’s Lith Dolina, Walton gets back to grimy 130bpm steez with baga bullets for Bristol’s Sneaker Social Club
Built for heaving basements and big rigs, the six tracks return to the sound Walton established his name with over the past decade. Starting out furtive with the stark techno-grime of ‘Dread’, he unleashes an armoury of gunshots and sampled chat in the rictus roll cage of ‘PJD’, and makes room for teeth-chattering trance arps in the ace DJ tool/bridge track ‘Detach’. At the EP’s deepest point, ‘Quasar’ balances buoyant pads and hip-shot laser stabs in a 8-bar techno style recalling Logos & Mumdance works, leading to the grimacing hardstyle-grime clash of ‘Rush’, and a stellar closing flourish in ’Shots Fired’.
