Boomkat Product Review:
First new material from Pole since 2017, following the recent reissue of his classic ‘123’ set with a canny new extension of his seminal sound.
In a smart balance of late night electro-jazz and weighty dub bass, ‘Röschen’ works in a trusted vein of introspectively woozy Pole gear. His studio sorcery feels less dusty and more congealed with smoke and finger-grease, whiffing of good strong booze.
The fizzing modular percussion is more crisply defined in the murk, coming off like a slower Villalobos or Don’t DJ on a meditative jazz bent, allowing us to savour the flavour in the longer original, while the edit's drums are more pronounced for early/late ‘floors.
