Boomkat Product Review:
The south London V.I.P. known as Levantis, among other things, spills a murky debut album under that name with the alchemectronic process of 'Romantic Psychology 1' for Ninja Tune's Technicolor offshoot.
Framed by a concept dealing with "Nigrado and possession of the shadow" it follows a slow and winding course thru chopped 'n screwed drum loops, oxidising drones and stray samples, effectively transmuting elusive base elements into a form of malleable midnight gold.
They range in length from 50 seconds to 9 minutes, tending towards shorter abstract arabesques recalling some mutant Leyland Kirby or The Stranger creations, but also allowing enough time to really swill your head in the viscose murk and noxious fumes of 'Red Blocks' or the elegiac elegance of 'Jamaican Greek Style'.
You should have no problem figuring out who's behind Levantis, and equally where to file its sanguine beauty.
