Boomkat Product Review:
A typically great compilation from German label Trikont, this time revealing the blurred evolutionary lines between rhythm & blues and rock & roll. Stretching from early post-war strands of R&B right up to the late-fifties heyday of black rock & roll you'll find all the expected movers and shakers like Ike Turner, Howlin' Wolf, Bo Diddley, Johnny 'Guitar' Watson and, of course, Chuck Berry. Often omitted from these sorts of compilations, you'll notice the welcome inclusion of various key female artists of the era such as Etta James, Big Maybelle, Ruth Brown and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
