Boomkat Product Review:
Ask anyone "who's the best grime DJ on road?", the answer will likely be Elijah & Skilliam. With their expertly-curated Butterz label and regular radio show for Rinse they've stirred up something of a resurgence of instrumental-lead Grime and given a solid base for new producers such as Royal T, Swindle and TRC to flourish besides scene veterans Terror Danjah & D.O.K., keeping the sound self-sufficiently underground and almost as urgent as it's ever been. So, their mix? It's a restless, relentless joy ride thru 28 tracks from the scene's hottest, covering all the aforementioned plus crucial up-and-comers like P Money, Faze Miyake, Preditah, Mr Mitch and S-X, spanning the spectrum of funked-up and electro-driven to more ruthless hardcore futurism, from the anthemic - Terror Danjah remix of Spooky's 'Spartan' and DJ Q mix of 'Woooo', to road-ready rudeness like P Jam's 'Arizona Skys' or Faze Miyake's LOTM theme tune 'Take Off'. It's also worth noticing the outside influence of producers such as Bok Bok, Starkey and Pangaea, who both appear with 'Silo Pass', 'Air Bubble Remix' and 'Hex' respectively, displaying a discerning taste for the styles which feed into and off their cherished scene. Killer set.
