Boomkat Product Review:
Melbourne noise rock mavens Grey Daturas are in fearsomely fine form on Return To Disruption. Who knew there were this many ways of giving someone earache? From the feedback squeals and escalating density of thick, distorted bandwidth that is 'Beyond And Into The Ultimate' the trio propel themselves to the furthermost reaches of free music chaos, only to retract into the empty warehouse clanking of the title track. at times you find yourself wishing those rampaging drums weren't there, because they somehow rein in the madness, stamping a 'sensible' 4/4 time signature on everything. That doesn't apply to 'Undisturbed' however, which is effectively a four-minute death-rattling, nasal wheeze, which sounds truly horrible - in the finest possible sense of the word. Ideal listening for any post-rock fans looking for something a little wilder and more potent than your usual cod-epic instrumentals.
