Boomkat Product Review:
Munich's Saroos cast out into otherworldly post-rock and cosmic headspaces on their 3rd album for Alien Transistor, following the split Anticon release, 'See Me Not'. Featuring members of Lali Puna and The Notwist at their core, Saroos deal in a subtly psychedelic sort of retro-futurism on 'Return', meeting Stereolab-esque vintage qualities with the same kind of appreciation for King Tubby as, say, Forest Swords, and a taste for exotica shared with the likes of Mike Cooper. It's a downbeat but buoyant set, ranging from the tempered fuzz buzz and post-rock dub wobble of 'Henderson Island' to the Can-like 'Tsalal Nights' and the sweetly drifting lilt of 'Seadance', each track imparting a clearly formed and personal vision of a timeless analogue nirvana.
