Boomkat Product Review:
Another idiosyncratic romp through the shaded part of the electronica/post-rock Venn diagram, the title track on this latest from 65daysofstatic manages to sound both mathsy and exciting, with euphoric mini-crescendos exploding at every turn, supported by ace disruptive electronic elements. 'AOD' starts from a considerably more Spartan arrangement of feedback and synth-glockenspiel before a steady electronic drum pattern establishes itself and the guitar lays down a tentative melody. As the track progresses it unfolds into an exemplary emo-post-rock opus (for those of you not quite sure what that means, or indeed, would sound like: imagine Jimmy Eat World playing the hits of Sigur Ros, or vice versa). Finally, the third track, with its excessively long, apocalyptic title - 'The Major Cities Of The World Are Being Destroyed One By One By The Monsters (original version)', no less - makes like Squarepusher reconfiguring The Album Leaf with some major breakbeat surgery.
