Boomkat Product Review:
Those of you who were lucky enough to hear Kammerflimmer’s last album on Staubgold ‘Absencen’ will already know just how good this band can be when they get their heads down. Always looking to take their sound that little bit further, it is no surprise that this remix ep features some of the hottest (and most unexpected) names on the scene. Jan Jelinek drops a mix which, surprisingly, points back to his earlier work (circa loop-finding-jazz-records) and almost abolishes the memory of his recent album, but the clear highlight here is a clipped electronic hiphop offering from Japanese uber-producer Aoki Takamasa, still hot stuff from his Fat Cat outing with Turiko Nojiko. This ranks as one of his finest to date, and has a dancefloor crushing crunch to it that makes you wish you could just start krumping on the spot (missed that reference? Watch Rize and all will be revealed). This record stands out as an oddity in the cluttered ‘remix record’ world, as every track is worthwhile – no fillers.
