Remix (Vol. 2 - Substance / Opiate / Bus Mixes)
Awesome second volume of slowmotion remixed dubwise mysteries from this young label, introducing some notable figures from the scene as guest tweakers. Thomas Knak's prior form will be very familiar to long term recipients of these lists - having released on Morr Music, City Centre Offices, his own Hobby Industries label, as well as production work for Bjork, and with fellow System and Future 3 members, Dub Tractor and Acustic. Dense atmospherics are the order of the day, with Thomas usual bespoke attention to detail to the fore. DJ Pete of Substance should be recognised for his work on Chain Reaction as well as for his Scion project with Rene Lowe. Its a more than appropriate choice, since day one we've commented on Echochord's dubby sound, and its proximity to the deeply influential Berlin dub techno of the Chain Reaction/Basic Channel axes. Daniel Meteo and Tom Thiel of Bus bring the vibes back to earth with more party flavoured dubwise behaviour. Masters of the deep – it’s another blinder from this most inspired of labels. Killer.
