Boomkat Product Review:
Fiery Furnaces serve up a bumper, action-packed live document featuring 51 tracks which should keep you fairly busy, for a little while at least. Drawing from songs spanning the band's entire discography, recorded over the past three years of touring, and are all thoughtfully rearranged for a live setting. Digested as a two-hours-plus dosage of Fiery Furnaces, the Friedberger siblings sound even more prog than ever before, with seemingly limitless resources when it comes to blending fast changes, skilful instrumental technique and catchy chamber pop melodies. Even the sound of the recordings themselves is full of variety, and although there's never anything you could really describe as lo-fi, occasionally the band slip into a bit of rowdy borderline garage rock (e.g. 'Chief Inspector Blancheflower') before emerging at the other end spouting something entirely more baroque. Recommended.
