Boomkat Product Review:
In Flight Program are a band who, according the press release, have shared a stage with Snow Patrol… that’s not really something to shout about is it? Don’t worry though, the band have enough alternative rock credibility to hold their own without resulting to the father-friendly realms of AOR. In fact, ‘Reference Points of No Return’ is remarkably energetic, the drummer sounding like he’s inhaled a few grams of high quality amphetamine and the singer sounding like he’s been on the sauce since he was out of nappies. This is the sort of rock music I like, abrasive, mildly offensive to the older generation, and very well realised. In fact, it occasionally gets a little too well realised, and their punk rock-isms become swapped for prog… yep these guys occasionally skate close to that much maligned genre, but I won’t blame them for it, in fact I think it gives the EP depth and an edge over others in the genre. They’re a band I can imagine would cut up a stage in the live arena, and none of that energy is lost on disc.
