Boomkat Product Review:
Wearing his prosthetic Luomo mask with ease, Vladislav Delay's forthcoming LP 'Paper Tigers' is given a welcome-party in the shape of this 12" 'Really Don't Mind' - wherein the concrete house that characterized 'The Present Lover' is refined even further to his secret recipe. Given a human face through Finnish jazz singer Johanna Ilvanainen's clipped vocals, 'Really Don't Mind' is a slow-burning house beast that is both experimental and inclusive - shouldering the twin responsibilities with an ease that belies the man behind the beats. Weighty in all the right ways, the barely perceptible cowl of glitchy tech just under the surface provides a pleasing counterpoint to the minimal club theatrics up stairs. On the back is a vinyl only mix of the track that is system-tooled to fell any dance floor within hearing distance, as Delay ruptures the calm with a fist of guttural power. Power of the mind!
