Boomkat Product Review:
Omar S and FXHE here deliver their most unexpected and blinding release to date - with Luke Hess producing yet another Basic Channel variation for the deep, dub techno heads among you. The title track opens the twelve and is just immense - reverberating stabs and dub chords hovering over a fuzzy rhythm, the slow evolution of synths and melody keeping things spare and incredibly evocative. "Renewal" follows and is more direct - with the same kind of balanced dubism that has typified the sound of Brendon Moeller's Beat Pharmacy taking effect. "Sacred" over on the flip employs a staggered rhythm, a minimal arrangement of ethereal dub pads and a one-note bassline revolving around midnight chords, while EP closer "Motor Dub" is the most upfront track on board - a classic Deepchord style Space Echo session deployed with just the right amount of delay, space and low-end tempering to make everyone in the office stop they were doing and ask what it was they were listening to. Deepchord/Basic Channel people out there - DON'T SLEEP on this one.
