Boomkat Product Review:
Both Deadbeat's original and Monolake's remix differ considerably from what would be entered into a pithy musical guide of their respective sounds; a fact made clear by the original version of 'Random Brown'. Famed for his dubby ~Scape machinations, Deadbeat here shirks the cracked cowl for a straight-laced 4/4 stomper that is discerning dance floor TNT - managing to sound simultaneously brusque and intricately plotted. It's a proper floozy! Turn the plate and you'll be greeted by Monolake who rinses the funk sediment from the original to craft a reverb licked cut that has midnight connotations without any weary film noir effects. Industrial and drenched in machine pathos, Robert Henke again offers up indisputable proof of why Monolake constitutes a by-word for production class - all the while ensuring Deadbeat is in no way upstaged, merely complimented on this ace EP.
