Boomkat Product Review:
How's this for packaging? Whilst it's pressed on some pretty dull black vinyl, the 7" is given a jaunty flourish thanks to the imaginitive use of some polaroids, a brown paper bag and an extensive index... Ooo-er! Quoting the band themselves "1000 polaroid photos were taken by the band between 10th November 2005 and 7th February 2006 and decorated by various members of the 65 family. They are availble on the front of the first 1000 of the 1500 limited edition 7", and so it is. Listed on a fold out sheet, photos titles include the likes of "766. Anaesthesia", "871. Fungus" and "970. Mother of God"; all of it properly reeking of hours spent collating, planning and blowing fresh polaroids. As to what the actual music sounds like, well it's a mix of Mogwai-heavy post-rock given a once over in the digital windmill - but that all seems academic when 65daysofstatic look this good. Smash, bang, wallop!
