Boomkat Product Review:
Mr. Mitch's Gobstopper fire up BLOOM's 'Quartz' for a new vinyl issue including new VIP and Rabit remix for the experimental grime and new electronic quarters.
Topside clocks the interlocking tessellations and bullet-riddled 3D grooves of the original 'Quartz', but it's the B-side tracks that you really need to get acquyainted with.
If you thought the original was wild, his VIP sounds like a squadron of nanobots attempting to decode and recreate early Waifa or Maniac riddims, and getting it heavily twysted in translation. Likewise, Rabit's remix is even more restless, smashing atomised elements in a sort of sci-fi cyclone of hyper-techno-grime.
