Boomkat Product Review:
A double-disc album of live recordings committed to tape at various venues across America between 1980 and 1985, Public Flipper Limited documents the legendary hardcore band at their most turbulent and acerbic, giving some insight into the apocalyptic accounts of their shows Henry Rollins hinted at in his Sex bomb Baby liner notes. The version of 'Sex Bomb' found here starts with ninety seconds of demands for beer - the band withholding their performance from a New York crowd until they get at least one beer each to the stage. When they do get around to playing their iconic single, it sounds very different from the studio recording, rendered as a wash of bass fudge. Also notable is 'Brainwash', which the band declares to be their only punk rock song (presumably because of its uncharacteristically high tempo) before the whole thing implodes after thirty seconds or so with Bruce Lose asking "Am I Billy Idol yet?".
