Boomkat Product Review
By the evidence of 'The Surgeon General' and this mighty follow-up, Rrose's Eaux label is shaping up to be something quite special. From behind a veil of anonymity, the reputedly East Coast USA-based artist is providing a much needed wide-angle view of Techno, from his collaborations with electronic pioneer Bob Ostertag, to his incredibly, coherently, wide-reaching DJ sets (check his electronique.it mix and prepare to be wowed). Here, he proffers the thunderous sleight of '23 Lashes' on the A-side, ploughing the heaviest 4/4 under over-stepped and forward tilted synthlines and looming drones, connecting the dots between electro-acoustic and pure techno disciplines. 'Prism Guard' occupies the B-side, inverting the intensity to a reduced, bleeping and spectral schematic. Tip!
