Boomkat Product Review:
Swedish noise institution Henrik Rylander (these days probably best known for his work in Skull Defekts) turns his hand to gallery installations for Power Model X (Motherboard Drone Live), documenting a live performance that featured - if the sleeve art is to be believed - a number of mixing boards all generating feedback that was channelled and conditioned by a larger, final mixing board. The outcome of Rylander's experiment is an incrementally fluctuating monolith of jarringly anharmonic drones. The main track here clocks in at over forty minutes, stretching out a rainbow of overtones for all you brave psychoacoustic explorers to frolic in. The follow-up, 'Chicago Live Treatment', is only half that length, although it's got a greater rate of change and a more confrontational frequency range, biting away at your ears with some static high frequencies.
