Boomkat Product Review:
Having already released music through labels such as Woodsist and Castle Face, San Francisco garage popsters arrive at In The Red with their latest long-player, and it gets underway with one of their finest tracks to date: 'Summer Of Love', which sounds like a long-lost '60s classic. This is apparently the first material the band have recorded in a proper studio, and you can certainly hear the benefits of the heightened fidelity. Laid down on two-inch analogue tape these songs really glisten, presented in a fashion that does justice to the great writing and terrific musicianship this band have been largely hiding away on their old productions. It's great to hear the lo-fi scene growing up like this, and with cuts such as 'Waterfall', 'Fascinated' and the synth-string toting slow jam 'I'm A Thief' The Fresh And Onlys sound like they're at the top of their game.
