Boomkat Product Review:
This Japanese septet have pulled off a considerable achievement with this impressively upscale debut album, boasting an expansive sound that remains tightly constructed, never flailing beyond song structure. Instrumentally, the group are suggestive of World's End Girlfriend or perhaps even Jaga Jazzist, but there's a far greater emphasis on song structure. 'Ruins' is especially successful in this respect, fusing together the chamber orchestra dynamics of the band with a pop savvy female vocal. Similarly, there's a grandeur to 'Your Chill Long Hands', with its Ondes Martenot-style keyboard sounds and drawn out woodwind passages that sits surprisingly well alongside the pep and sheer tunefulness of the band's approach to songwriting. Lovely.
