Boomkat Product Review:
A stunning collection of quiet and soft piano pieces by the legendary German keyboardist Hans-Joachim Roedelius co-founder of seminal krautrock bands as Cluster and Harmonia. Available on vinyl for first time in 25 years. RIYL Erik Satie, Max Richter, Goldmund, and Sylvain Chaveau.
At long last available on vinyl again, Hans-Joachim Roedelius’ Piano Piano is a gentle masterpiece of pianissimo - or softly spoken music - reaping an intimate world of fairytale atmospheres and sweetly curious ambience.
Taking inspiration from Erik Satie’s rigid formalism, but making it fluid, more expressive, Roedelius paints a series of 12 willowing watercolours with captivating finesse, playing with tact and at a glacial pace as to be called meditative, yet rarely repeating himself, always subtly luring us into a new scene or shade of feeling.
In the most timeless, classical sense, this is music that stops clocks and dims lights when it’s playing, practically urging you to fix something warm and slow to drink along its journey inward.
We can hardly imagine a lovelier album for autumn evenings.
