Boomkat Product Review:
Gerald Donald (Dopplereffekt, Drexciya) makes a rare Arpanet outing on the A-side of this deep electro split with 30D...
On Arpanet’s first dispatch in 12 years, no less, he returns to the icy cybernetic appeal of his seminal Quantum Transposition and Inertial Frame albums in two tracks. Supernova Remnant teeters on spindly rhythms amid glowing solar wind synths in proper sci-fi style, whereas Main Sequence Star is much faster needling with rapid-fire arps in asymmetric stereo formations that send eyes spiralling into back of the head until we’re stranded in deepest space.
30drop keeps up their side of the bargain with a lushly mellow piece of AI star-gazing recalling classic, early Autechre in Disharmonic Gait, while Halo In The Glass impresses with a trip thru diaphanous harmonic pads to off-centre electro dynamics, with drum patterns recalling Rian Treanor’s harder gear.
