Boomkat Product Review:
We've not heard from Ochre for a few years now, since his popular 'A Midsummer Nice Dream' brought him a lot of attention with favourable comparisons to Boards Of Canada etc. He's been busier recently releasing through Scottish IDM/Electronica imprint Benbecula, and now for Ed Chamberlain's Bloc Weekender affiliated Baselogic records. His sound harks right back to the heady days of electronica's peak with a blend of lush sparkling melodics on 'Petl', now closer to AFX or Bola than his more laidback output, with snapping electro-enhanced beats and cochlea tickling melodies, or slower broken styles on his remix of Global Goon's 'Bass recorder'. It's lovely stuff that any lovers of the hi-end electronica of Warp or Toytronic artists like Digitonal or Plaid can suckle on.
