Boomkat Product Review:
Dub and techno, they go together like cheese and crackers do they not? Bread and butter? Well ever since Basic Channel had the bright idea to use dub production methods on techno it's been something of an obsession, especially in Berlin. Daniel Meteo is no stranger to the dub sound, and these tracks meld a slowed down dub technique into abstracts and minimal techno. Less experimental than Pole, this comes across a bit like Dabrye - it's electronic but it's DEEP. There's a certain lo-fi quality to Meteo's tracks which makes them sound credible, the clattering drums and looooooow bass, combined with very odd sounding synths and decaying found sounds. It works beautifully anyway, and this is one of the better dub influenced German offerings I have heard in a long while (since Pole maybe...). Good stuff all round and highly recommended.
