Boomkat Product Review:
Two originals plus remixes from Dominik Eulberg on his regular duties as a Traum mainstay. 'Daten-Ubertragungs-Kusschen' actually starts to trespass on classic Aphex turf, and that's a most welcome piece of manoeuvring from Herr Eulberg, who situates his beat somewhere on the brink of tweaked-up IDM whilst setting about a gentle and beautifully simple melody on what sounds like a synth-generated approximation of a vibrophone. It really is quite smashing. 'Schnertuppen-Regen' takes on a more aggressive beat but there's still lots of activity below the surface, with gamelan-like percussive melodies forming at the heart of the mix. Beautiful stuff from DE, that frankly isn't going to be improved upon by any sort of remixing, although Sistema avoids comparisons by shifting the track into an Ulrich Schnauss (or do I mean Guns N' Roses?) type direction, teaming, floating, wobbly ambience with washed-out breakbeats. Max Cooper, on the other hand, doesn't really go far enough off the beaten track to come up with anything especially remarkable, although his contribution offers a thoroughly engrossing alternative to the ace original.
