Boomkat Product Review:
Further experiments from the Tectonic laboratory, with "Pepper Spray" being the long awaited new release from Pinch for the Planet Mu label. Following a series of absolutely immense twelves on his own label it seems Rob Ellis is ready to unleash his new material onto the world, with talk of stylistic experiments and a possible forthcoming album fuelling speculation about one of dubstep's most admired producers. "Pepper Spray" on the A-side sets aside some of these expected shifts and streams its focus into out and out heaviness - the production here once again making use of an enviable low-end and polished-up 8 bit sounds. "Cave Dream" on the flip is much more sedate and spacious, layered soundscapes soon giving way to a barrage of metallic, precision bass wobbles that are rarely delivered with this much weight. Pristine and uncompromising, Pinch is just an effortlessly good producer who consistently delivers some of the most dense, well-balanced music in dubstep Buy!
