Boomkat Product Review:
From his hood to yours; the cultishly loved Tom Boogizm chops out a wicked set of “Ruff unmastered shit straight from sampler to cassette - made on rubbish gear” for a long-awaited Pariah Caste Vol.3, touching down nearly one year since his deeply charming Posh People Make Me Ill album with ONO.
Recorded in his perch on the Princess Parkway, above those wicked Ethiopian shops selling computer gear and massive sesame seed and honey bars, Señor Boogizm splices samples of ‘90s pirate radio in Moss Side with lixx taken from his extensive vinyl collection and whatever the fuuck else he fancies, making 25 minutes feel like a whole night spent lodged between his eyes.
He’s like a lo-fi Barry Adamson if you want to look at it that way, or a slightly higher-fi Expressway Yo-Yo Dieting from another angle: basically a rugged G with a real feel for the grit, funk and psychedelia of Black street musics; faithfully and nimbly turning its classic techniques to his very own ends, much in the way he applies to his DJ practice.
Simply, this one is reeeeel AF. Do not sleep on it!
P.S. Tom Boogizm and Jon K are throwing one of their killer all night sessions at The White Hotel, Strangeways, on Friday 24th February. You be daft not to.
