Boomkat Product Review:
Accompanying the Keepers album, 'Parallelogram' is actually the first single to be taken from Deastro's forthcoming Moondagger LP, which in theory should be regarded as Deastro's debut proper, because Keepers was devised as a bit of a catch-up compilation for Randolph Chabot's recorded work to date. The winning formula set out by the Keepers material is adhered to, but there's more of a full-band feel to 'Parallelogram', which stretches a little further beyond the electro-pop vision of previous works. The synths and production flourishes remain in tact, but Chabot's undoubtedly developed his craft. 'Carol Gilligan' takes on a math-rock influenced approach to jagged indie-disco, occupying a similar orbit to DFA, Friendly Fires or Foals, but with a more messy, bedraggled feel to the live kit sounds that's a little more connected to conventional rock music. Very good stuff indeed.
