Boomkat Product Review:
Otherwise known as Dabrye, Tadd Mullinix returns to more electronic terrain after devastating us with hip hop excursions under his aforementioned moniker. 'Panes' is a thirty minute display of reduced and developed electronic variation, kicking things off with alienised Rhythm & Sound dub complete with bassbin pounding low end sonics, clicks, subtle melodics and a trapped vocal crooning in slow motion, music for long abandoned deep galactic outposts. 'Shaven Glass' is composed via treated bell tones, lowdown twisted mechanical rumblings and an orchestra of clicks which rides alongside a warm bassline to take this track to it's hardisk crash closure. 'Exchanging Modes' drops back into a crisp Dabrye hip hop tempo though this track has freestyle synth tension attacks with an almost medieval classical form, genius. 'Inch' drops randomised electro beats in a midtempo style while an angel sings dronelike alongside Aphex styled dark ambience. 'Sealed' is pure Autechre ambience, like a quartet of detuned acoustic guitarists filtered through a Max Patch. Last up is 'Alternating Current's' a Dabrye take on darkened micro house though with enough analogue electroid pulses to throw simplistic genre descriptions out the window. 'Panes' is a fantastic mini album and essential for anybody who wants to witness the full extension of the man known as Dabrye.
