Boomkat Product Review:
"30 minute EP from Long Arm, whose epic debut album ‘The Branches’ was an instant sell-out when released at the start of 2011, shifting his status from unknown to in-demand in one giant step. Four new tracks and three remixes of (mostly) instrumental and elementally-inspired hip hop sound excursions. As a young piano student, Long Arm had an ear-opening moment when he first witnessed a DJ in performance on one of Russia’s new music channels. It was difficult to get a turntable back then, so – necessity being the mother of invention – in true DIY style Long Arm and his friend started making their own from old Soviet-era phonograph equipment, and began collecting vintage vinyl records. Long Arm devoted all his free time to listening to those records. He spent his university years writing his own tracks, playing in various bands and participating in different projects. After his graduation he began working in “intelligent” downbeat electronica forms, but gradually his lifelong passion for jazz influences came to inform his whole music style, and so his story arrives at the present day."
