Boomkat Product Review:
Nothing can stop Aidan Baker, and it's looking like he's almost matching the great Machinefabriek for quantity of releases and collaborations, but luckily they're always worth a look, and 'Orange' is no different. This time around he's joined by Thisquietarmy (aka neo-drone dude Eric Quach) who tempers Baker's hard-edged, dense shoegaze leanings to emerge with a sound that's probably more indebted to early Brian Eno than anything else I can bring to mind. That's no bad thing either, the nudges towards that classic 'On Land' sound are very welcome, and the duo capture that delicate analogue warmth absolutely perfectly with a combination of shimmering guitars and hissing cassette noise. Rather lovely, all in all - a record to leave running while you drift into a peaceful, dreamless slumber.
