Boomkat Product Review:
The highly intriguing Bus_Editions present two of Evol’s interpretations of Hanne Darboven’s Opus17A (1984) - itself a riff on Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons pop classic, famous for its constantly ascending key changes.
It’s an absolute blinder, every bit as intense as you might hope for and then some, especially the side with the bladesaw-looking vinyl patterning, which looks as good as it sounds.
"The works of Hanne Darboven work like a mountain: the top can’t be seen from the bottom, the base disappears from the summit, the whole escapes the climber as the pilot misses the point, it stands as metaphor for something that exists metonymically, exists as a surplus of the Real with an excess of the Symbolic, and is both of the moment and continuously monumental." (Vanessa Place in X-TRA)
Strongly recommended to the mentalists. You know who you are.
